Udom said: “In the most recent series of attacks, the gang invaded the village market, “Urua Nsong Eto”, vandalised shops and sent traders away. Several homes were allegedly burgled by the hoodlums.
He continued: “The recent series of attacks by the gang were triggered by the arrest of one of its leaders by officers from the Inspector-General of Police Intelligence Response Squad, a development that was said to have brought out political heavyweights and traditional rulers in the state to demand his unconditional release.”
According to him, the menace of the gang has made members of the community to be afraid of reporting their activities for fear of reprisal attack, adding that “a lot of people have fled the community because of the continuous unchecked mayhem caused by the gang.”
